Well-for the past 4 weeks, I have known that the day would come. Unfortunately, it really did. My supervisor & good friend, Marcy, submitted her resignation notice 4 weeks ago and would soon be leaving Intermet, our department and me! I am now the "lowly" one left of the good ol' HR girls :( I was just put into the department 2 and 1/2 years ago......and then Sheryl left - then Jo-Jo (she was layed off and went to 11-7) Then Bobbi - then Lisa....which left Marcy and I to do all those jobs. Now, it's up to me. I keep telling myself that I can do it....but heck - the last 2 couldn't and they'd been doing it for years. The only thing that bothers me (well...not the only...there's many things) is that I have never done the personnel part of HR before....only benefits and work comp. YIKES - now I have to deal w/ a lot of things. There is one piece of salvation though. His name is Mitch! lol He is the HR Manager at our Stevensville MI plant. Granted they have under 100 people - but at least he has several years of hr manager experience with our company....even though our policies in Missouri are different. He's a really nice guy.........but he's ummm kinda feminine. No kinda - he's real feminine acting.....but he is married. hehe He has a sense of humor and very nice to me so far - however - he is pretty straight forward in his wants. He already wants to change about everything we do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I won't know the difference! Thank God - yesterday, he told me that he will go ahead and "reside" in Marcy's old office rather than "live with me" in my office. I think he finally got the hint that I was very unreceptive to that idea!!!!! It would just make me more nervous in not knowing what I'm doing! So I am glad of that. He will only be here like half of Mondays, all of Tuesdays and part of Wednesday's and then head back North.
Anyhow.....here's some pics from Marcy's last couple days as well as some from Lisa and Jack's last day. I miss my friends/co-workers who have left.................. I have become very very close to Marcy over the past 2 1/2 years.........not only as coworkers in the HR world but also on a personal side. I feel like she is part of the family and we have shared a lot of things over time. I'm really really going to miss her...........and yes, we will still talk on a daily basis via email, text and probably phone - so she can tell me what the heck to do!!! But it just won't be the same. It's never going to be the same there.......for several reasons.
Good Luck Marcy ---- I'm gonna miss you girlfriend. I'll have to go somewhere else to drop the f-bombs when they need to be dropped - because I can't drop them in Mitch's office! LOL Oh, and p.s. I didn't even cry............amazingly!

4 More Years....
That is in no way meant as a political statement...............I'm saying 4 more MARRIED years!! Today is the Mr & I's 4th wedding anniversary. Hard to believe it's been that many already - and we've been together for 7 now - wow!!!!!!!! I came home to gorgeous flowers!! I love them! And we are going to go out to eat this weekend sometime also!!!! BTW - the "Forrest Gump" song on my play list is from my wedding. I remember it like an hour ago - Sally, Mom and I were in the basement waiting to go up.....and I heard Beth start to play it.....Sally said "FORREST GUMP!!!!" and at that moment...I felt like I was going to throw up!! I had a very very severe case of BUTTERFLIES!!!! lol Dont' know why - but I did. Anyhow - I love that song, picked it, and whenever I hear it, I always think of our wedding --- mostly from the basement of the church!!!

¿qué demonios?
Your first assignment is to figure out what that title says!!!! :)

As you can see - I kinda caught her off guard w/ the camera in the garage! hehe NEXT ---- it was posing with the full attire.
I must
tell you that when I looked over at her driving so seriously down the highway like nothing was going on and that everything was NORMAL, I completely lost it!! I had a huge outburst of sheer laughter.......I was laughing so hard that I litterally had tears!! Once I even gagged that I laughed so hard...........LOL....it was a hoot! ANd this is also what it looked like from behind!!!
Now is that not a hoot?????
The food was absolutely wonderful. We had chicken enchiladas, cowboy caviar, dips, burritos, chicken tortilla soup, mexican corn casserole, taco salad and I'm sure that I've left something out. After we gorged ourselves beyond the normal human way (which is the only way ya know) we had a little "Mexican Hat Dance" performed by my own mom!!! She practiced at home before we left - so she had it down pat LOL.......what a hoot.

The hats were enjoyed by more than just us!
Just so you know what all the hoopla is about.........click on the arrow in the middle of the below video and ... well...... I don't think I need to say anything else, now do I????
After the McKinzie rendition of the Mexican Hat Dance.......we went down stairs and enjoyed what Sally brought - which was a home made caramel apple pie. maravilloso

{Susie....see what you MISSED????}
BOYYY!!!!! What a day Sunday was! The Coralville Girls met up for a mexican gathering which we had planned at our St. Pat's party. However, Cinco de Mayo came and went!!!! Several of "the gang" couldn't come so it was just a hand full of us.
When I arrived at my mom's on Saturday afternoon - I showed up with 2 sombrero's!!! I figured that we'd wear them - she and I have become infamous for our "garb" over the past couple of years - and it's going to cease after this!!!! Anyhow.......Mom wins the prize for best dressed!! She dug up more props than just the sombrero! She found an old maraca that my aunt & uncle brought back from Nausau when I was just a kid and then she found a 'fake' long (very very long) stemmed rose. The rest as they say, is history! Here is a little bit of her ready for the trip to K-town

WARNING!
I'm just warning you now........"The Coralville Girls" are getting together today (since we were unable to do it on May 5th as planned)........you know, for Cinco de Mayo, well......enough
said, right? Remember......the C-girls are the same girls that have gone to Coralville on an annual basis for the past 10 years ---- this upcoming November being the 11th year.
Just be prepared for the next post............that is ALL I am going to say
*as I type this....you'd think that my mother is on some kind of serious illegal narcotics
she has completely lost it.........................it might not help that I have found some mexian/latino music online LOL

Road Update
Well......Ambrose called "the road man" this afternoon. He "apologized".....pffttt - whatever dude! Not accepted. They are hoping to possibly have our entrance opened up for us this weekend. The only thing that they need to do is build it up somewhat on the South end (our side) because the drop off from the road is a good 6" as you see here. I believe he said they are planning on
just pouring some blacktop from our side to the (unfinished) shoulder and we should be good to go. THANK YOU JESUS...............as driving the stupid gravel is driving me nuts. I know..quit whining - but it's very difficult to do when you have to to turn and take 3.3 miles of gravel road when the actual highway is 50 yards away!!!

This weekend, there is a big dedication/renaming of the MC airport. It is going to be re-named the Capt. Ben Smith Airfield I think. Ben is a local boy who was killed in November 2003 when the Black Hawk helicopter he was flying in Iraq was shot down. Everyone he was carrying died. This is the 40th anniversary of the airport and it was a timing thing. The town wanted to do something special for both things. If I'm not mistaken, it would also be his birthday and his class reunion. His classmates are having their class reunion all weekend as well. I plan on going to the things in the morning so hopefully I will have pics to post later.
Have a good weekend. Enjoy the weather - as it's supposed to turn to pure CRAP next week!!!
